- 1970: Graduated from Pertevniyal High School, Istanbul.

- 1976: Diploma of Doctor in Medicine.
- 1976 – 1980: Trainee / Ophthalmology Department, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, University of Istanbul.
- 1980: Ophthalmologist / Medico-Social Center, University of Istanbul.
- 1980 – 1982: Military service as an Ophthalmologist.
- 1982 – 1983: Private practice as an ophthalmologist in his private office in Findikzade, Istanbul.
- 1983: Senior registrar / Haseki (State) Hospital Eye Clinic, Ministry of Health.
- 1983 – 1984: Lecturer / the 9th and 10th courses of Opticianry that were organized by Ministry of Health in Haseki Hospital in Istanbul.

- 1986 – 1987: Went to England with three scholarships he held. Improved his English at the language schools and participated in the education studies in the subjects of medical retina, laser applications in retinal diseases, vitrectomy, and intraocular lens implantation in cataract patients.
- 1986 Feb. and March: Joined to the works of Argon laser traetment in St. Mary’s Hospital, Colchester, England.
- 1896 April: Observed vitrectomy operations of Dr. JD Scott in New Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, England.
- 1986 Oct.: Observed vitrectomy operations of Dr. Zdenek Gregor and clinic works on Medical retinal of Dr. Alan Bird in Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, England.
- Sept– Dec.1987: Attended to Dr. David Dorell’s operating sessions (PECCE and IOL implantation) and Outpatient clinics in Royal Victoria Hospital, Bournemouth, England.
- 1987 Feb.– March: Trained on and practiced fundus fluorescein angiography and Laser photocoagulation in the Ophthalmology Department of Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, University of Istanbul.

- Since 1977, he attended many of the ophthalmology congresses, courses, symposia and other scientific meetings arranged in Turkey. He presented papers in many of them.
- He also attended various congresses and symposia in United States, England, Netherlands, Singapore, Cyprus, Sarajevo, Greece, Egypt, Italy, Monaco, Portugal, Sweden, Austria, Spain, Macedonia, Slovenia, Romania and Georgia. He also presented papers in some of these congresses.
- He has over 60s scientific papers and articles.
- His subspecialties are Medical Retina and Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is also interested in Glaucoma and Strabismus Surgery.
- He is reviewer of Turkish Journal of Ophthalmology, Türkiye Klinikleri Journal of Ophthalmology,Türkiye Klinikleri Journal of Pediatry, Türkiye Klinikleri Journal of Case Reports, Türkiye Klinikleri Journal of Health Sciences, Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers & Imaging.
- In addition to his professional work, he plays “Bağlama” (Turkish folkloric instrument) and sings folk songs. He worked as the Chairman of Turkish Folk Music Band of the University of Istanbul that he is a founder of it (between 1975-1995). He has various folk songs compilations and a wide archive of Turkish Folk Music. He is published a university textbook on Turkish Folk Music (Türk Halk Müziği). - Buyukyildiz, besides, graduated from Journalism and Public Relations Department of Press and Publications School of the University of Istanbul in 1983.
- 2005: He completed doctorate (PhD) program on Radio – TV and Cinema.
- 2005 – 2009: Was lecturer on Turkish Folk Music and History of Music at the Faculty of Art and Desing, Istanbul Kultur University.
- 2012: Was lecturer on Turkish Folk Music at the Safranbolu Fethi Toker Art and Desing Faculty, University of Karabuk.
- 2020 –: He is already working as a Professor of Ophthalmology / Istinye University Liv Hospital, Istanbul.
